On Boredom

Yesterday I tried to explain to my six-year-old son that there is nothing wrong with being bored. Being always entertained is like feeding your brain all the time. Similarly to how you take pauses to digest what you eat, you should stop by to reflect on what your head consumed.

If you keep feeding yourself even if you are full, you get sick and vomit. When your brain is overfed, it vomits with tantrums.

I think the analogy got understood when at the end of the day, resisting my temptation bringing him to bed, my son cried and wept, “I cannot calm down, my brain is vomiting.”
